We want everyone to feel safe, supported and comfortable while they’re at Camp Kindling. This guide explains how medical care and security work at our events, and what to expect if something goes wrong, or if staff need to step in.
Camp Kindling takes place outdoors in a temporary rural setting. While we do everything we reasonably can to make the site as safe as possible, there are some natural features, like uneven ground, tree stumps, flint, brambles and branches, that are part of the environment and can’t always be removed.
By coming to Camp Kindling, you’re agreeing to take sensible care of yourself, your family and the people around you, and to be mindful of the environment you’re in.
Looking after your safety at Camp
We ask everyone attending Camp Kindling to:
Follow guidance and instructions from event staff, medical teams and security
Be mindful of the outdoor, rural setting
Only take part in activities you feel fit and comfortable doing
Wear suitable clothing and footwear for the conditions
Let us know if you spot something that feels unsafe
Before joining any activities, you’ll be asked to sign a participant agreement confirming you understand and accept these expectations.
We also recommend taking out personal accident insurance, for extra peace of mind.
Children & supervision
Camp Kindling is designed to be family-friendly, but it’s still a busy outdoor event, with lots of people moving around and some natural hazards.
We ask all parents and guardians to:
Keep children supervised at all times
Take extra care around busy walkways, service roads, activity areas and campsites after dark
Make sure children wear suitable footwear and warm layers
Help children understand boundaries and expectations, especially in shared spaces
Please don’t allow children to climb trees. Camp Kindling takes place in a pinetum, which includes special trees and uneven woodland ground, climbing can be dangerous and can also damage the trees. If our team ask children to come down, it’s always for safety and to protect the woodland.
Please remember: Camp Kindling is not a childcare setting, and parents or guardians remain responsible for their children at all times.
Medical support at Camp Kindling
We have a professional medical team on site throughout the event to support both adults and children if they’re unwell or injured.
What to expect
The medical team is based at the medical tent in Base Camp
Depending on the situation, you may be asked to make your own way there
If you need help getting there, you can message us on WhatsApp on +1 555 832-7924, or ask a nearby staff member to contact the medical team by radio
If your child has any medical needs or allergies, we recommend bringing any required medication with you and keeping it with you at all times.
If the medical team think hospital treatment is needed
If the medical team feel that you or your child need hospital treatment, you’ll need to arrange and cover your own transport to and from hospital (for example, a taxi). This is standard practice at events of this kind.
We do have an ambulance on site, but this is reserved for emergency or critical situations only.
Compassion & support
If you or your child become unwell or injured during the event, please tell us as soon as possible, we’ll always do our best to help you get the support you need while you’re at Camp Kindling.
If you have concerns after the event, we’ll always listen, but we’re always best placed to help (and to put things right) when issues are reported while you’re still at the event.
If you become separated from your child
If you can’t find your child, please tell a member of staff immediately. Our team can contact the wider site team by radio and help reunite you as quickly as possible.
We recommend:
Agreeing a simple family meeting point (for example, Base Camp)
Making sure children know your full name
Adding your phone number to their wristband
If a child approaches a staff member for help, our team will stay with them and try to contact you straight away.
Security at Camp Kindling
Our security team is on site to help keep everyone safe and ensure Camp runs smoothly. This includes managing access to the site, carrying out searches on arrival, and stepping in if there’s a risk to people or property.
We know that security checks or interventions can sometimes feel firm. These measures aren’t personal, they’re there to protect everyone and to make sure Camp Kindling remains a safe, welcoming space for all families.
Searches on arrival
Bag searches and entry checks are a normal part of attending events like Camp Kindling. They help prevent prohibited or unsafe items from entering the site and are carried out for everyone’s safety.
We ask everyone to:
Be respectful to staff and security on arrival
Follow instructions during entry checks
Allow a little extra time, especially at peak arrival periods
During the event
If security need to step in during Camp Kindling, it’s usually because:
There’s a safety concern
Someone’s behaviour could put others at risk
Event rules aren’t being followed
We expect all security staff to act professionally and respectfully at all times.
If you ever feel uncomfortable about how a situation has been handled, or have concerns about an interaction with security, please speak to a member of the Wildkind team as soon as possible so we can listen and look into it.
How to report something urgent
If something feels unsafe, or you need urgent support during the event, you can:
Message us on WhatsApp (24 hours during the event): +1 555 812 7924
Speak to a nearby staff member, Ranger or crew member
Ask someone to contact medical or security by radio
If there’s an immediate risk to life or serious injury, always call 999 first.
A final note
Our medical and security teams are here to support the wellbeing of everyone at Camp Kindling. While some decisions, like recommending hospital treatment, carrying out searches, or intervening in a situation, may feel inconvenient in the moment, they’re made with safety in mind.
If you have questions before the event, or concerns during it, our team is always here to help.
