Family Festival Trolleys and Wagons
Updated over a week ago

One thing we hear from families over and over is how useful a festival trolley or wagon can be! These are wagons / trolleys / transporters that parents repurpose and customise. We don’t have any trolleys available for hire onsite, so you will need to bring your own if you want to use it during the event. We do offer a Porter service to help you carry things to and from your car to the campsites.

Uses

  • On arrival you can use your trolley to transport your luggage from your car to the campsite.

  • During the event you can use it as a mobile base to carry your daypacks and your kids. They can carry much more than a buggy and are easier to pull over uneven ground.

  • On departure you use your trolley to carry your luggage back to your car.

Types

Folding Trolley

These can generally hold less weight but can fold down smaller. Their wheels are also usually smaller, making them a little bit harder to pull over uneven ground.

Garden Trolley

These are heavier duty and can hold more weight, but will take up more room in your car as they don’t fold down as small. You can unbolt them for travel but this requires tools and can take some time. Their wheels are bigger and air filled which makes for a more comfortable ride over uneven ground, but they are also heavier so need a bit more pulling power.

Customisations

These are generally not designed for pulling around kids so you will have to make your own safety judgements on what you feel is suitable. A few things you can do to make it more useful for transporting kids around the event:

Lights

Wrapping some fairy lights, LED rope or electroluminescent wire around your trolley can make it easy to find at night; this creates a little place for your kids to play near you without getting lost.

Cover

Some trolleys come with a rain or shade cover; or you can fashion your own. You will want the cover to be easily removable if you don't need it.

Linings

Line your trolley with mats, blankets and cushions to make it comfortable for the kids to sit in, and have some extra blankets to cover them if they go to sleep.

Decorations

You can decorate your trolley with simple things like bunting or flowers, or go all out and turn it into a spaceship!
