PATROLS
One of the best parts of Camp Kindling is the Patrol system. It is a brilliant way for your family to meet other campers, get stuck into some friendly competition and chase the glory of the Kindling Cup. Joining a Patrol is completely optional, but once you are in, you will see why it is one of the most popular parts of the weekend.
Pick your Patrol
Heroic Hawks (green). Gentle, determined and agile. Always up early to catch the worm.
Bonkers Badgers (blue). Fun-loving, cheeky and full of energy, especially at night.
Stealthy Squirrels (yellow). Sociable, entertaining and always making the most of the day.
Fearless Foxes (red). Creative, intelligent and a little bit mischievous. They thrive at night but enjoy daylight fun too.
Choose your Patrol when you book, or join one when you arrive. The whole family can join the same Patrol, or split up for a bit of friendly rivalry, and you can switch at any point.
Win points, play games
All weekend, your family can earn points for your Patrol through activities, challenges and even acts of kindness. Activity leaders hand them out for skill, effort and enthusiasm, though a bit of cheeky bribery has been known to work too.
Every day the Patrol Games Arena hosts gloriously silly team games: movie charades, tag pull, limbo, the Pegface Challenge, tug of war. Play, or grab a drink and cheer from the sidelines. On Sunday the Patrol Games Finale tallies the points, one epic race settles it, and the Kindling Cup is lifted.
Opening Ceremony. It all starts at the flagpoles. Find your Patrol, find your people and watch your Patrol Leaders hoist the colours, crank up the music and officially kick off Camp.
The Parade. The Patrols march through Camp behind their flags, drums and banners, led by their Patrol Leaders, all the way to the Patrol Games Arena. Find your colours and walk Camp into life together.
Patrol Initiations. A fun, silly get-together at the campsite where your family can meet your Patrol Leaders and fellow Patrol members. There's one for each camping area, including Boutique Camping.
Patrol Rallies. Each Patrol has its own rally. Meet your Patrol Leaders, learn the chant, find out what makes a Badger, Fox, Hawk or Squirrel who they are, and get the full brief on earning Patrol Points.
Night Games. After dark, Night Games bring everyone together in the Patrol Games Arena for mass participation games, with even more Patrol Points up for grabs.
The Patrol Quiz. Rounds for all ages and every kind of brain, and more points for your Patrol. Grown-ups and kids can put their heads together.
Masks and lanterns. Make a Patrol mask to wear to the evening parties, and a willow and paper lantern to carry at the Closing Ceremony.
Closing Ceremony. Bring your lantern and gather with your Patrol as the flags come down for the last time and the final chants ring out across the forest. It's the last moment we all share before the final party.
Dress to impress
Dressing up is never essential, but if a whole family cannot dress head to toe in ridiculousness at Camp Kindling, where can they? We don't care what you wear, as long as you wear it with joy.
