CRAFTY ARTY NATURE PARTY

Leaves, twigs and forest treasures become works of art as your little ones get creative in the woods, and you get a well-earned breather.

What is a Crafty Arty Nature Party?

A Crafty Arty Nature Party is a relaxed arts and crafts session for the youngest campers, using natural materials found in the woods. Little ones explore, collect and create with leaves, twigs, pine cones and other forest treasures, with experienced carers looking after them. It's gentle, mindful and messy in the best way, and it gives grown-ups a little time to themselves.

What nature crafts can little ones make?

Leaf rubbings are a classic. Lay a leaf under paper, rub over it with the side of a crayon and watch the veins appear like magic.

Nature collages use glue or sticky card to arrange leaves, petals, seeds and bark into faces, animals or patterns.

Stick creations turn twigs into little people, frames, stars or tiny rafts, tied together with wool or string.

Pine cone creatures get googly eyes, leaf ears and feathery tails.

Nature paintbrushes are made by tying grasses, leaves or pine needles to the end of a stick, so every brush makes a different mark.

Why is nature art good for young children?

Making art from natural materials invites children to slow down and notice things: the shape of a leaf, the feel of bark, the colours of the season. Picking up small treasures and arranging them helps with fine motor skills, and there's no right or wrong way to do it, so every child can feel proud of what they make. Many children find time outdoors with their hands busy wonderfully calming too.

What happens at a Crafty Arty Nature Party?

Children are welcomed into a woodland craft space, where they gather natural bits and pieces and draw inspiration from the trees around them. The carers guide them through a few simple, mindful makes, with plenty of room to follow their own ideas. Meanwhile, grown-ups can head off and enjoy some time of their own, then come back to a proud little artist with something to show off.

What should we pack for our child?

Pack everything your child might need while you're away. A drink and a snack are a good idea, along with sunscreen and a hat on sunny days and a spare set of clothes. Dress them in something comfortable that can get a bit muddy or sticky, as nature crafts rarely stay tidy.

FAQ
DO WE NEED TO STAY WITH OUR CHILD?

No. This is a session where experienced carers look after the children, so grown-ups can take some time for themselves.

IS IT SAFE FOR LITTLE ONES TO HANDLE NATURAL MATERIALS?

Children are supervised throughout. Some berries, leaves and fungi can be harmful, so do not let children put anything they find in their mouths. Tell the carers about any allergies before the session starts.

WHAT SHOULD OUR CHILD WEAR?

Comfortable clothes that can get messy, and shoes suitable for woodland ground. Add a hat and sunscreen on sunny days.

CAN CHILDREN TAKE THEIR CREATIONS HOME?

Yes. Whatever they make is theirs to keep.
